Frequently Asked Questions

Is counselling, or coaching, right for me?

Counselling can be helpful if you are feeling overwhelmed, stuck or unsure how to cope with life’s challenges. Life comes with a whole range of hurdles, which are made even more challenging when you move away from family, friends and familiarity. People come to counselling for support with stress, anxiety, mood concerns, grief, relationship issues and major life changes (like moving overseas!). People also come to counselling for a safe space to talk about their lives, to engage in self-reflection and to practice personal growth.

Coaching is similar to counselling, but differs in a key point – coaching is more action based. People come to coaching for help in identifying what they need to do and how to do it, developing a plan with an extra set of eyes and following through with objective assistance.

You can talk about anything that is on your mind. In counselling, you and your practitioner will discuss specific goals, experiences and/or general thoughts and concerns. If you are having challenges with a specific issue, such as alcohol or other drug dependance, PTSD or anger-management concerns, we can conduct an initial assessment and provide a referral that suits you.

Yes, what you share in counselling is private and confidential. The notes counsellors take are stored securely and are not able to accessed by anyone other than the counsellor without your consent. You can request your case notes from the counsellor at any point.

There are three instances where confidentiality will be breached. These are:

– If the counsellor understands there to be actual or potential abuse of a child occurring;

– If the counsellor believes there to be a risk of harm to the client or others;

– If subpoenaed by a court of law.

We are a generalist counselling service, meaning we use a range of techniques including talk therapy, coaching, CBT, ACT, and SFT. More information about the techniques and services offered can be found here

Our fees are all listed in AUD here. You can use our currency converter to see an estimate how much each service offering will cost in your currency.

No. We are a private counselling organisation, meaning we do not accept Medicare or other rebates and no referral is required. Just book in through the link above and we’ll take it from there.

This is a common and totally normal concern. It happens! The client-counsellor relationship is an essential element of the therapeutic process, so finding the right practitioner for you is important. If you don’t feel connected with your counsellor, you can tell us in that session or after via email and we can provide you with a referral that may be a better fit.
